Whole-House Dehumidifier
|
Dew points and relative humidity (Rh) affect the way your body senses heat.
Higher humidity levels cause the air to feel much hotter than the actual temperature.
By taking humidity out of the air, you can turn their thermostat up and may feel
cooler at a higher temperature. Energy Star estimates you can save up to 6% on
cooling costs for every degree the thermostat is turned up.
Source of Indoor Humidity
Cooking
Boiling water and other cooking methods release humidity into the air |
People
Add moisture into the air through breathing and perspiration |
Bathing/Showering
Bathroom fans can help, showering and bathing are two of the primary sources of excess moisture in the home |
Infiltration Outside air can also be a source of excess humidity when air seeps though cracks in flooring, electrical outlets, windows, and ventilation ports |

Doesn't an Air Conditioner Dehumidify?
Whole-house dehumidifiers take on the work an air conditioner(AC) does to remove moisture from
the air (latent heat), allowing the AC to focus on the heat sensed by the thermostat (sensible heat).
When the AC unit is able to focus on removal sensible heat, it actually achieves the SEER rating it
was designed to achieve.
Whole-house dehumidifiers also provide better levels of comfort for the homeowner when moderate
temperatures exist and the AC unit isn't running enough to remove significant moisture - causing the
Rh in the home to rise. When raining, in the evening, spring, summer and fall - conditions often
exist where an air conditioner(AC) does not run but humidity remains high. A whole-house dehumidifier
does the job in place of lowering the tempeture in the house to provide humidity relief.
When the Rh is in the house is lower, the tempeture feels cooler and more comfortable, allowing
a higher thermostat setting which saves energy.
Whole-house Dehumidifier is the better solution
Many people try portable, single room, dehumidifiers to control excess moisture.
Unfortunately these only impact a small area and can be difficult to maintain.
Portable Dehumidifiers
- Take up space
- Freeze up due to lack of airflow
- Are noisy
- Have a drain pan that needed to be emptied
Whole-house Dehumidifier are more effective and can be less expansive than multiple
Portable Dehumidifiers used in a single home. Whole-house Dehumidifiers are installed
on central heating systems out of the living area so that treated air is distributed to all rooms.
How Whole-house Dehumidifiers Works
A Whole-house Dehumidifier automatically senses excess moisture and lowers humidity levels
by removing excess moisture throughout the entire home.
Whole-house Dehumidifiers can protect your vacation home while you are away
Whole-house Dehumidifiers are the best way to protect vacation properties while
not occupied. When unoccupied, the thermostat may be set at a high tempeture,
keeping the AC from running and resulting in higher humidity.
The Whole-house Dehumidifier operates independent from the tempeture setting,
keeping humidity levels under control even with high tempeture in the home.
